With everyones travel plans have been cancelled or rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it can be hard for those of us bitten by the travel bug to deal with current restrictions. Here are a few easy ways to indulge your wanderlust from home!

Organise your photos
All too often, we take hundreds of photos when travelling and while the best handful get posted to instagram, the rest are forgotten about. This is a great time to go through all those photos, delete any duplicate or out of focus images and catalogue all photos in a way that works best for you.
I like to have a folder for each trip, which is under the year the trip was taken, which I edit using Lightroom. I also create a separate folder of the best photos (a sort of highlight reel) that I keep for easy access.
Recreate a meal from a trip
With being home a lot more, many of us are doing a lot more cooking too. This is a great time to cook a meal that your really enjoyed on a trip. Have fun looking up recipes, substituting any ingredients and making the best of the equipment you have in your kitchen!

Plan your next adventure
This too shall pass eventually, and you will be explore the world again. In the meantime, take the opportunity to plan your next trip, big or small. Use magazines, travel blogs, Pinterest and any other tool of your choice and plan away. Quite often, the anticipation of an upcoming trip can be as exciting as the trip itself, and this is a fantastic way to keep yourself distracted. Here are a few ideas to get your started:
- A weekend getaway
- Your next road trip
- The ideal trip you have been wanting to go on for years

Immerse yourself in a new culture
One of the joys of travelling is experiencing and learning about new cultures. But thanks to the internet, we can do it from the comfort of our homes. France have your heart? Try learning French on an app like DuoLingo. Japan on your bucket list? Hit up documentaries and movies on Netflix that will help you get a better understanding of the country (and make you appreciate it even more when you are able to visit!)

Take a virtual tour
Travel lockdowns have led to a number of tourism boards and companies offering virtual tours of a large number of destinations. This includes being able to virtually:
- Hike the Great wall of China (link here).
- Watch red pandas live from Oaklahoma City Zoo (link here).
- Explore and learn about the sites and artefacts from ancient Egypt (link here).
- Get your nature fix by touring 31 US National parks using Google Earth (link here).
- Ride without the lines at Disney (link here).
There are so many options that it’s impossible to list it all here. Just search for “destination” + virtual tour, and chances are high that you will find what you’re looking for.
