These photos are from when a few of us from the department decided to go on a fairly impromptu camping trip to the Carlsbad caverns in New Mexico. I was really excited as this was my first time camping, and this was a great opportunity as I would get to go with fairly experienced campers. S’mores, tents and bugs aside, we spent the large portion of Saturday hiking in the caverns where we went on the two self guided routes: The Natural Entrance route that descends 750 feet in 1.25 miles, and the Big Room Route that is about another mile exploring the caverns. It was absolutely enormous, and the pictures don’t do it much justice, but I hope you enjoy!
